Where Thessaloniki is definitely doing well is in conference tourism. It is constantly rising as a conference destination, attracting more and more conferences, corporate meetings, events and exhibitions. This is largely due to the very good functioning of the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB), the body set up by individuals with a direct or indirect interest in convention tourism, to promote the city as a convention destination and to claim conventions on its behalf.
Yesterday TCB cut its New YearsPie at the excellent venue of Ble Vin. And if once at this event there were only a few attendees, yesterday it was full house. And this is because the members of TCB are constantly increasing, as with its members’ work, they have won the trust of small and large companies who in return reward its work.Hotels, travel agencies, event and conference agencies, airlines, catering and event venues, museums, are just some of the industries participating in TCB. This year alone, 12 new members have been added to its registers since the beginning of the year.
The increase in members is very important as with their subscriptions they support the operation of the TCB and increase its power for the tourism promotion of Thessaloniki. In his speech, TCB President Yannis Aslanis referred to the organization’s important work, the actions it organizes in Thessaloniki and abroad, actions that have to do not only with the promotion of the city but also with the training of its members in the new developments in the industry of meetings, as conference tourism is now called internationally.
Mr. Aslanis thanked the Region of Central Macedonia and the Vice-Regional Governor for Tourism, Alexandros Thanos, for the valuable support to the TCB and the synergies that the two agencies carry out, for Mr. Thanos to reply that”we don’t do anything other than the obvious. Let’s listen to the professionals, believe in them and that’s why we support this effort”.
The king cake process featured 21 lucky winners who won matching gifts donated by TCB members.
