Τhe plateau of Mantinia, just a few miles away from the walls of the ancient city, at Gortsouli of Mantinia, stands our winery, which is surrounded by 3 hectares of proprietary vineyards. The altitude of the 630 meters and the loamy soils make the place ideal and reveal the rich distinctive aroma of the king of Mantinia, Moschofilero.
Our family engages in viniculture for more than 20 years and produces wines that come exclusively from our vineyards. The taste for work, the keenness and the knowledge of the new generation, combined with the experience of the old, encouraged the production of fine wines. Thus, since 2017 we bottle Moschofilero and Merlot under the trade mark ANTINOE.
According to legend, Antinoe was the woman who established the walled city of Mantinia. By choosing the professionals that the new town would need and by promising privileges to their wives, she managed to gather a respectable crowd which followed her on the selection of the new kingdom. Driven by an ancient oracle, she followed a big snake for two days and nights and when it stopped to rest by a river, Antinoe had found her place. For this reason, the river that surrounded the city was called Ofis, which means snake in the ancient greek language.
