The New Acropolis Museum is located below the Acropolis, on the Grand Promenade. It is 200 meters from the Acropoli metro station. It is a landmark for Athens and it is the 3rd most popular in the world. Designed by the Swiss architect, Bernard Tschumi it opened in 2009. The new museum is an exceptional example of a design which respects the historical legacy of the city. The museum houses surviving antiquities of the Acropolis, that were previously exhibited in several museums.
